Ballet is tough work. It takes many long hours to create the beauty and strength of an accomplished professional. That is Anjali’s aspiration, to be a professional ballerina. Anjali Radhakrishnan is an 8th grade middle school student at Windermere Ranch Middle School in San Ramon, California. Anjali has dedicated all her after school free time to ballet and it is beginning to pay off. Anjali has been accepted to the prestigious Kirov Ballet Academy in Washington DC on scholarship. The Kirov Ballet Academy is one of the few institutions in the United States that offer pre-professional ballet training along with academics. The Kirov trains students to become the next generation of classically trained ballet dancers. Anjali will attend the 2015-16 school years at the Kirov.
Anjali has been taking ballet class since the young age of three. She has a great deal of dedication and discipline like no other. While living in the East Bay, Anjali danced with Rachel’s Ballet. Rachel’s gave Anjali many opportunities to participate in performances and competitions, including the prestigious Youth American Grand Prix. In addition, Anjali has spent the last two summer’s in both New York and Washington DC participating in ballet summer intensives lasting up to 6 weeks with training schedules mirroring professional ballerinas. These intensives were with Ellison Ballet (New York City) and the Kirov Ballet Academy (Washington DC).
Anjali is thrilled to have this opportunity at the Kirov. She will continue her academic and artistic training in hopes of someday becoming a professional ballerina. Anjali’s attributes her success to the fantastic teachers, family and friends that have guided and supported her.
