Recital
Rachel’s Ballet produces an annual recital to
showcase the talents and accomplishments
of our students.    

The performance includes original
choreography and excerpts from classical
ballets.
Recital Attendance Policy

  • Students are required to attend at least two classes per week during the
    school year in order to participate in the recital (Pre-Primary through
    Vocational levels)
  • Students in Pre-School (3 yrs old), Pre-School (4 yrs old), Jazz/Hip Hop,
    and Contemporary (Modern/Lyrical) classes must attend once per week in
    order to participate in the recital.  The Adult Ballet and Teen/Adult Ballet
    classes do not participate in the recital
  • The instructors and Ballet Director may not invite some students to
    participate in the recital if they believe the students are not ready to
    perform.  Participating students must have consent from the Ballet Director
    and instructors
Parking & Directions to Ohlone College

The recital is held at the Jackson Theater (inside the Smith Center) on the Ohlone College campus in Fremont, California.  

Ohlone College is located at the intersection of Mission Blvd. and Anza Street (street name changes to Witherly Lane once on the
Ohlone College campus).

  • Monday through Friday 7:00am – 11:00pm
  • Saturday 7:00am – 5:00pm
  • You must purchase a Daily Parking Permit ($2.00 exact-change-only machines in lot) to park in Lot C  
  • After 5:00pm Monday through Friday, you may park in Lot B for “Ohlone Faculty Only” but you must purchase a Daily
    Parking Permit
Costs

  • Tickets:  Each student or family is responsible for purchasing four (4) tickets in advance to defray the theater rental
    expense.  Additional tickets can be purchased on a first-come, first-serve basis
  • Note:  A performer who will occupy a seat will require a ticket.  For example, if your young child performs in the
    earlier part of the recital and you wish to bring the child into the theater audience after Intermission, the Jackson
    Theater staff requires that the child must have a ticket.  This is the theater's policy   
  • Costumes:  Students must purchase one or more costumes and props, depending upon the number of dances to be
    performed   
Picture Day

May 4, 2010 - Tuesday, 4:00pm - 8:00pm (No classes will be held on this day)
Location:  Rachel's Ballet, MV - Mission Valley Studio only (Studio at Las Palmas & Mission Blvd)

  • A professional photographer will take pictures of all ballet students in their recital costumes.
  • Schedule to be announced. Please check in the studio lobby.  
  • Students should arrive 15 minutes prior to their scheduled picture time with hair and make-up ready.  Please bring ballet
    shoes and costume (if one was purchased).  Please be prompt to avoid delays and disrupting the schedule.
  • Some costumes are being rented.  Students will wear them for the pictures and then return them immediately after the
    pictures are taken.  These costumes will be used at the recital. Please DO NOT take any rented costumes with you.
  • Please make checks payable to "Memory Makers" and fill out the picture order form(s) provided.  One form for each

Recital Preparation Days

May 26 & 27, 2010 – Wednesday & Thursday
Location:  Rachel’s Ballet Studios

  • Schedule to be announced
  • No costumes or make-up for Prep Day.  Students should
    bring any props with them so they can rehearse their
    dance  
  • Please bring water and a snack for prep day   
Dress Rehearsal for Recital

May 28, 2010 – Friday 4:00pm – 9:00pm
Location:  Jackson Theater (inside the Smith Center), Ohlone College, Fremont CA

  • Students should come to the rehearsal well-fed with costumes, props, hair and make-up ready to go.  Touch ups can be
    done later.  
  • Please bring water and a snack as it will be a long night for rehearsals
  • Everyone participating in the recital must attend the dress rehearsal
  • You must pay for parking.  Please read the Parking & Directions to Ohlone College information above
  • Please drop off students at the NUMMI Room (used as our dressing room)  which is located to your right after you enter
    the Smith Center
  • No one is allowed in the back stage area except the student performers and the helpers that day
  • Students are invited to watch the other groups rehearse, but they must remain seated in the audience and keep quiet
Dates & Details for the 2010 Spring Recital
Recital

May 29, 2010 - Saturday, 5:00pm Performance (Tentative Time)
Location:  Jackson Theater (inside the Smith Center), Ohlone College, Fremont CA

(*Students must attend warm-up class prior to performance.  Schedule to be announced.)

  • Please be on time to your warm-up class
  • Also, please remember to come well-fed with costumes, props, hair and make-up ready.  Touch ups can be done later
  • Remember to bring water and a snack
  • Please drop off students at the NUMMI Room (used as our dressing room)  which is located to your right after you enter
    the Smith Center
  • No one is allowed in the back stage area except the student performers and the helpers that day
  • You must pay for parking.  Please read the Parking & Directions to Ohlone College information above
  • The audience will be admitted into the Jackson Theater approximately 15 minutes before the recital begins.  Once inside
    the Jackson Theater, NO Cameras or Video Cameras are allowed to be used during the recital performance.  Also please
    finish consuming any food before entering the theater
